What is the cell cycle?
The cell cycle is the process that cells go through while they are living.
Sort of like the life of a cell.
Though, the cell cycle usually ends in the creation of another cell.
How many times
the cell completes this cycle depends on what kind of cell it is.
For example, bone cells take 10
years for a cell to multiply, but fetal cells multiply in under 24 hours.
There are a bunch of reasons why the cell cycle could happen, mainly for
reproduction, healing and growth.
There are three main stages of the cell cycle; Interphase, Mitosis, and Cytokinesis.
Each stage has sub-stages or phases.
Each phase will be covered in more detail during the lessons.
